What a ride

As I had planned, I spent my next day riding my scooter around the island, looking for nice viewpoints and found a view nice ones.

I also did some hiking over a mountain. There was a warning, that the road is not drivable and if Thais say a road is not drivable, you better believe them.

The sweat was just dripping of me. Unfortunately, my sweating remained unrewarded, as there was no view from the top, there was just a little hut with a dog.

The next day I spent primarily at the beach. I burned myself pretty badly, even though I put on sunscreen multiple times. Well, I wanted some color, it’s not the color I wanted, but what can you do…

I spent most of the evenings on Koh Tao with a english guy from my room, and the last night we were joined by more people, who arrived from Koh Phangan (full-mooners).

Yesterday at 14:30 my ferry was scheduled to leave to Chumphon, from where I had booked a ticket for the night-train to Bangkok. This didn’t work out so well. Over night it had started to rain heavily and the sea was really rough. So I went to the pier and asked about the ferry, which of course was canceled, but there was another ferry leaving at 14:30 to Surat Thani.

They exchanged my tickets for free, the only thing that sucked a bit was that now I had to take a bus from Surat Thani to Bangkok, which is even further away than Chumphon…

Because I already knew this was going to be a rough ride, I bought some sea-sickness medication at the pharmacy in the morning. I took one 30min prior to the ride (as recommended) and another one right after entering the ferry, just to make sure…

I also gave away most of the remaining pill to other people, but still so many people puked. First I tried the whole looking at the horizon thing, but felt a little bit sick from that. What worked really well for me was to put on headphones and close my eyes (see no evil, hear no evil).

So that ferry ride took about five hours and the bus ride must have taken about 10-11 hours, but now I’m finally in Bangkok for some more days. My plane back to Berlin leaves early on 30. Jan and I’ll arrive there 31. Jan 1pm (at least that’s the plan).
