Time for some Islands (updated)
On my last day in Chiang Mai I made sure to get a one hour Thai massage. If any of you have tried foam-rolling: it’s like being foam-rolled on your whole body with thumbs, elbows and forearms. Plus they also try to make all you joints crack. It’s amazing.
Then the next day I had to say goodbye to Chiang Mai.
I had another two hours wait in Bangkok, before my next flight to Krabi. For Krabi I only booked one night in a hostel, because I didn’t really want to stay there, but it wasn’t possible to continue to Koh Lanta the same day.
In Krabi I already noticed how much warmer the evenings are in south of Thailand. While you had to put on long pants and a sweater in the north, you are pretty much sweating non-stop in the south.
Today I took the ferry to Koh Lanta and it seems even warmer here. It’s an beautiful island, with nice beaches and supposedly has some of the best snorkeling spots in the world.
So my plan is to book a full-day snorkeling tour for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I’m also thinking about renting a scooter or maybe a bike, because my hostel is kind of far away from the next beach, which I didn’t even thought was possible when I made the booking.
One thing I also noticed is, that the south is definitely more expansive than the north, but that’s understandable since more tourists come here, I guess.
Update:
So apparently I was wrong, there’s a beach just 300-400m from the hostel, it’s just not considered to be one of the good ones.
Well, it was good enough for me, I went for a more or less refreshing swim (the water was pretty warm).
