Dodged the Bullet...

… or rather the pingpong ball. Not literally, we just didn’t go. Instead we went to a bar again had “some” drinks. This time we were joined by an Erasmus student the girls know from Belgium, his girlfriend and some guys we met at the bar. After the bar we went to a nightclub and danced till they shut off the music. Then we had one more beer at the girls’ hotel and breakfast afterwards.

I got back to my room at about 08:00AM an slept between 1-2 hours, because I had to check-out this day. After checking out and buying a ticket for the night-train to Chiang Mai, I went to see the Grand Palace (again, but this time it was open).

Luckily for me, you could burrow “appropriate” clothes for free there, because you may only enter if your shoulders and legs are fully covered. The Grand Palace is a really big complex, that also contains the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Sadly you are not allowed to take pictures inside the temples.

Grand Palace

The whole Grand Palace took me about two hours. After that I was really tired, because of the heat, the walking and the lack of sleep of course. I kept wondering around khaosan road for the remaining time and had an iced coffee and some fresh fruits.

At about 16:30 it was time for me to leave to the train station, where my train would be leaving at 18:10. I was going early, because I wanted to get some food and buy water for the 13h train ride. To my surprise I actually couldn’t find any pad thai around the train station, so I went with some oreos and nuts from 7eleven and got on the train.

I was so happy to finally have some sleep, but somehow still woke up at 21:00h feeling a bit hungry, so I got some food on the train restaurant. It was delicious.

The train arrived at Chiang Mai with the sunrise. From the train station I walked to the city-center, where to guesthouse I’m stay at is located. Today I’m probably going to visit the hilltop temple, which is said to be really fucking beautiful. At night I will likely go to the night bazaar to finally buy some of those harem pants.
