Ok ok ok. Originally I wanted to write my last entry in Bangkok, but there’s a few reasons why I didn’t.
In spite of my plans, I didn’t do any more sightseeing. My days pretty much had the same structure: wake up whenever, wonder around shopping malls / downtown, get a massage, go out at Khaosan road.
In the MBK Center they sell everything. I was really tempted to buy a new mobile-phone, but I’m glad I didn’t. I bought a charger there, which didn’t work, got it replaced and the second one overheated and exploded. So it’s definately not the best quality.
Apart from that, I didn’t actually buy much. I bought a “powerbank”, which wasn’t that cheap, but it’s been working pretty good, and I bought a fuckload of harem pants. Going through them at home, I noticed I might even have forgotten some of them…
A thing I only noticed the second time around in Bangkok was, that there’s really cheap buses. Screw those tuktuk-driver, they just try to rip you off anyway (well, many of them, not all of course). Tuktuks most of the time even charge more then what you’d pay in a taxi with a taxi-meter.
While going out at Khaosan road one night, I met two germans (shout-out to Theresa and Stefan!). They were not only staying in the same hotel, they stayed in the room across the corridor. What are the chances?
This basically led to me not writing this post the next day, as I didn’t get any sleep that night and was pretty much a wreck the next day (the second to last day). I didn’t do much of anything that day, but I got a massage and a haircut.
The last day was the worst. I was fine my entire trip and didn’t have any problems, but then it hit me. Some eeehh… gastro-internal problems… I tried taking some coal-tablets, but puked them back out again. It wasn’t nice. So i basically spent my last day in bed trying not to puke (and that’s why I didn’t write on that day).
Luckily, I felt a bit better the next morning, so I didn’t puke on the plane. Since I had about 20 hours in Abu Dhabi, I decided to visit the town. On the way there from the airport, which is about 45min by taxi, I visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. If I recall correctly, it’s the third biggest mosque in the world. It was pretty impressive.
The town itself wasn’t all that exciting. Impressive big buildings, many malls and a beach, but it was pretty cold there, about 18°C, I think. I walked down the Corniche Road, which is the beach promenade of Abu Dhabi, and went to the WTC mall afterward, where I had some coffee. Since I was brutally tired, I decided to call it a day and took a taxi back to the airport, where I tried to sleep till my flight.
###THAT’S IT!
I want to thank all the people I met on this amazing journey. It wouldn’t have been this amazing without any you! I also want to thank the all the readers, who gave me a reason to write all of this down. <3
