RIP
Because I couldn’t get a scooter for my last day on Koh Phangan, I spent the day mostly at the pool / beach. At around 4pm I decided to take a little walk on the beach and return through the city to get my laundry.
During this walk, I think I got a little sun-struck, as I was getting a bit dizzy and was getting a headache. So I downed a bottle of water at 7eleven, got back to the hotel, downed a paracetamol and took a nap in the air-conditioned room.
I felt much better after that, so I had some lunch at the hotel restaurant. There was going to be a party in the evening, but I was still not feeling the best and I couldn’t sleep long the next morning anyway, since I had to check-out. So I decided to stay in the hotel restaurant / lobby and watch some of the crappy movies they show there.
The next day, the ferry to Koh Tao had a delay of one hour. It wasn’t the most pleasant thing in the world to wait one hour in the heat, but I talked to a local woman, who works for a scuba-diving company here on Koh Tao, so the time went by a little faster.
This ferry ride was actually the first one on which you could feel the swell of the sea. I was a bit worried to get sea-sick, because I’ve gotten sea-sick before, but it was fine.
So now I am on Koh Tao. This island is incredibly beautiful. It’s pretty small, really green (palm trees, bamboo, …), big boulders (which reminded me of the Seychelles) and has small bays everywhere. Adding to that, it also has many great places to dive and snorkel directly in the bays. You can see a rich ocean fauna and even a sunken ship-wreck.
As you might imagine, my plan for today and tomorrow mostly consists of snorkeling around the island. If I feel like it, I’ll visits a bar in the evening. Yesterday I passed one, which had live music, but I had an upset stomach, so I went back to the hotel.
